The Komodo dragon is the worlds largest living lizard growing to up to 3 metres in length and up to 160kg in weight. Although they are big they can also outrun most animals (30km/h for short distances), it can even swim. Komodo dragons are also heavy eaters, eating up to 80% of their own body weight. Komodo dragons also have an amazing sense of smell, they can smell prey as far as 4km. But, what makes the komodo dragon one of the most dangerous predators on land is because of their serrated teeth and how their saliva has 50 different types of bacteria( 7 of which are deadly). This bacteria can kill an animal as big as a horse in one bite. Also, if the prey escapes after one bite, the komodo dragon will stalk it untill the prey dies.
